Volunteering

Contact your local Area Agency on Aging using the Eldercare Locator for more information about different programs that could use your assistance.

You may also contact AmeriCorps Seniors. Get involved and make a positive difference in your community. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serve with organizations dedicated to helping others.

Consider becoming a volunteer Ombudsman and advocate for residents of nursing homes, board and care homes and assisted living facilities. Find Your Local Ombudsman Program to learn more.

There are other ways to make a difference and become involved in the prevention of elder abuse. Visit the National Center on Elder Abuse's– Get Involved subpage to learn about opportunities to raise awareness, and to plan or join local, state, and national events and observances such as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
